Here's Sophie

Life has been really hectic for head of Sheet Metalwork Kevin Marshall and his partner Nikki for the last few days but I am pleased that Kev has found time to let me have a photo of newcomer Sophie and here she is. Kevin tells me that they are really proud of her and, as you can see for yourselves, she is a lovely baby. Congratulations again.

Recent events off Somalia have really done for the Yo Ho Ho image of piracy romantically portrayed by Johnny Depp and others. The exaggerated "oo arrr" accents, peg legs, treasure chests and eye patches have turned pirates into lovable heroes but when I read of poor Florent Lemacon's death during a rescue attempt it made me think long and hard about piracy. What the Somalian pirates have demonstrated is that, colourful costumes apart, modern day and 18th century piracy are no different being little more than armed robbery at best and murder at worst. A childhood illusion left in tatters.

I've just got back from Anfield having witnessed yet another marvelous performance from Fernando Torres. How Rafa must rue the weeks lost through injury and the resultant run of draws which have kept Manchester United in the driving seat. But with six games left we are still in with a chance and if Torres can play like that on Tuesday night , who knows, maybe 3-1 against Chelsea might just be recoverable. They let three in against Bolton today.

Paul's show "The Colour of Money" has yet another time slot this week at 9.15 on ITV tonight after "Britain's Got Talent". It's sad that is got moved around all over the place time wise as the ratings before 7pm were good. At the new time I imagine the viewing figures will be poor. It was good to see that today's Daily Mirror had it down as one of their three TV choices for tonight out of scores of programmes. Next week is the last of the series. After falling to below 3m viewers last week, I doubt we'll see another series but it's been a good credit early in Paul's career.

I'll leave you with a fabulous goal from Anfield today.
