Holiday Chores

It's Good Friday and Marion and I have just spent most of the day getting the house clean and tidy. When both of us are working full time , we have to put some time aside at weekends and bank holidays to get the chores out of the way. We're finished now so, cooking apart, we've got a nice long weekend to relax. It was amazing how long it took to find the photo of a couple doing the housework together. Whilst we have shared for years, it still seems that a lot of men get away without doing enough. I have to confess that Marion still does more than her fair share as she doesn't tend to trust me with some areas. Seems that my bathroom and kitchen cleaning skills aren't up to scratch.

I was hoping to have a photo of Kev Marshall's new baby daughter to share with you but lost email syndrome has struck again. In case you read this Kevin it's john.brassey@btopenworld.com . Speaking of lost email, what's happened to the Royal Mail lately? About six customers this week have sworn blind that their cheque has been posted but the cheques haven't turned up at Instanta. Is the Post Office cutting back or are the customers being economical with the truth?

Have you noticed how you don't even have to type what you are looking for into Google now? It starts making suggestions for you after just a couple of characters. it's quite creepy how it knows what you are looking for but it's a bit prudish. When I searched for a pic to illustrate the point and started to type in boo, it suggested books, boogeymen and even boondocks (whatever they are) but there wasn't a boob in sight. And I wouldn't be surprised if there are more than one or two out there.

Watching the documentary about the horrific Maesbrook murders on TV last night demonstrated more than anything else that a mother's love for a child is a bond that is stronger than any other. Despite the atrocities carried out by her son, Mrs Foster just couldn't condemn him on screen and attempted to defend him. By failing to interview any of Foster's wife's family (probably as they didn't want to be involved) , the documentary lacked balance. But Mrs Foster senior did make me understand (though not agree with) how those parents protected their sons who were involved in Rhys Jones's shooting and how difficult it must have been for Norfolk mum Carol Saldinack to turn her sons in to the Police when she found they were guilty of a defenceless man's terrible beating.

Nothing happening at Instanta today. Next week sees the final proof reading of the sous vide literature and then we'll get the show on the road. I'm extremely pleased with the products. We have spent a fortune on their development and I hope that by listening to what the chefs wanted we have come up with something that they will love.

At last someone has put Harry Hill's jelly on Youtube. The editing has spoiled it a bit (it was a running joke for weeks) but badly edited jelly is better than none.
