There's nothing like being organised is there? So today I am starting to think about Christmas opening and the all important Xmas party. As Christmas Day is on a Thursday this year and our lads don't work Mondays we will probably have to do a bit of juggling with the hours. I think that if we close on Tuesday lunchtime and go for a meal at about 2.30pm that should suit everybody as we can get any last minute orders onto the lorry and most of the work done by 1.30pm. We may man the phones again on Christmas Eve with a skeleton staff but past experience tells us that we won't be very busy. All I have to do now is find a suitable venue and some entertainment. Karaoke is looking a distinct possibility at the moment but it won't be compulsory.
The last two years have been ok. The Barking Frog provided good food but poor service, Owens Restaurant had good food and good entertainment but too many squeezed around the table. Perhaps this will be my Goldilocks moment and this year will be JUST RIGHT. And just to get everyone in the mood. This is the standard I expect to see.
Spent some time this morning discussing pay with my fellow directors and have come to a decision to be announced at a staff meeting on Friday. It's not easy running a business these days so let's hope that we have got it right and have come up with the right balance between fairness and common sense.
Off to Anfield tonight to watch the mighty reds take on PSV. A friend cried off at the last minute so the long suffering Marion is joining me. Standing on the Kop amongst a crowd of swearing, sweaty farting scousers will be a real treat for her. I really know how to treat a lady. And thanks for coming W if you happen to read this.
